Krause's Cafe

Great place to get German food in the heart of New Braunfels! I had a German beer, a large pretzel, and the Texas schnitzel. It was so very good! There was also a live band playing, and they were great, as well.

I was really looking forward to trying Krause's as I have heard good things but, unfortunately, I wasn't able to. My party of 9 arrived at 10:25am on a Sunday. There were no hosts at the entrance so we walked to the back and were told to seat ourselves. By the time we got a server, it was right at 10:30 and we were informed that breakfast was over. I've never heard of breakfast ending at 10:30 on a Sunday (and I've been in the restaurant industry for many years). But we asked if an exception could be made since we had arrived prior to 10:30 and we could see many other patrons were still receiving breakfast orders. The server asked the kitchen and said the kitchen staff refused to take our order. It was 10:33 at this point. I asked to speak with a manager. By the time she came over, it was 10:45. I explained the situation again and was told there was absolutely no way they could help me. This policy is in place because it is usually very busy at this time and the kitchen needs to shift to lunch prep. While I understand this in principle, it was not busy at all. The manager even mentioned that is was unusually slow that day. During this conversation, I continued to see more breakfast food being brought out around us. I do understand that certain policies are in place but we arrived before the cut off time, were not properly seated, and were told by both the kitchen staff and the manager there was no way they could work with us. I've been in the customer service industry for many years and I've never experienced people who were so unwilling to work with a customer to resolve a situation. We left and went to another establishment who went out of their way to accommodate our group and provide excellent service and food. I'd like to say that I'd come back another time to try the food, but I'm not sure I can patronize a restaurant who cares so little for their customers.
